Podiatry and Chiropody

Matthew Farrar is a Health Profession Council Registered Podiatrist who specialises in the sporting foot offering a full bio-mechanical assessment and casting of bespoke orthotics if required. (Orthotics charged separately). Matthew also offers nail surgery.

With his extensive experience Matthew is very much in demand, working for the MOD in Edinburgh and Cyprus, private practice in Manchester as well here at The Health Rooms.

Mathew offers treatments and foot diagnostics in a professional but relaxed and friendly manner.

He uses a biomedical assessment of foot structure and gait analysis to determine if the way you  walk is contributing to a current injury or perhaps give rise to one in the future. The biomechanical assessment involves the Podiatrist looking at the way you walk from the head right down to your toes, generally focusing on the lower limb.

Mathew can also carry out weight bearing and non weight bearing assessments. These are completely painless and will involve moving your feet and sometimes legs through a variety of movements to look at how your feet and legs are functioning in terms of movement.  If we are confident you will benefit from wearing orthotics then we will cast your feet at the same time as your biomechanical assessment.

Correct the feet early and hopefully avoid trouble in the future.

Our orthotics are the most innovative devices in the UK. We use a mixture of hard and soft materials depending on the condition being treated and the biomechanical evaluation. An important part of the service is to make sure that your orthotics fit the shoe and can be accommodated easily. For this reason the orthotics we provide have differing grades of carbon fibre that take up little room in the shoe but offer maximum support.

You may benefit from bespoke orthoses if you are suffering from foot and heel pain, knee pain or wishing to prevent osteoarthritis.
